The Windiest Planet
Neptune is the farthest planet from the Sun and is known for having the strongest winds in the Solar System, reaching speeds of over 1,200 miles per hour. Its deep blue color comes from atmospheric methane combined with unknown atmospheric components.
Neptune is an ice giant like Uranus, with a thick atmosphere and a dynamic weather system that includes massive storms such as the Great Dark Spot, similar to Jupiter’s Great Red Spot.
The planet has 14 known moons, with Triton being the largest. Triton is geologically active and is believed to be a captured Kuiper Belt object due to its retrograde orbit.
